In a recent email from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, the publishing company shared ideas for using the novel “The Little Prince” in World Language classes. Since the email subtitle was “Pique interest in languages with The Little Prince!”, we just had to share the resources that they put together on our AFLA blog to give you a taste of the kinds of things you might see at our fall conference this year!
With the forthcoming film soon to be released, why not consider using the novel in your classes? It is available from HMH in French, Spanish, and German. Here are some tips from HMH about how to use it in class! In the meantime, use the trailer to pique students’ proficiency! Created an embedded reading in your language of instruction or use it for a MovieTalk. Watch it in English and use it to discuss the themes in the target language and connect the story to your students’ lives! The storyline of the little girl with a super-planned life would make a great fit for a unit about professions, going to school, expectations, etc. How else could you use these resources in your classes?
