in the 21st Century Classroom
This year's conference will take place October 6th-8th at Rasmuson Hall at the University of Alaska Anchorage. We are proud to invite Keynote Speaker Dr. Manuela Wagner, author of, among other works, Intercultural Citizenship across the Curriculum: the Role of Language in the Classroom. Supporting the conference as well is Leslie Davison, instructional coach and co-author of An Educator's Guide to Dual Language Instruction.
Dr. Manuela Wagner
Manuela Wagner holds an M.A in English studies and Marketing and a Ph.D. in English Studies with a specialization in linguistics from Graz University, Austria. During her graduate studies she spent 2 years in the baby lab of Psychophysics in the Department of Neurophysiology at the Max-Planck-Institute for BrainResearch in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. She also spent 3 years in the Department of Human Development and Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Leslie Davison
Originally from Northern Michigan, Colorado has been Leslie's home for almost 25 years. She has taught Spanish K-12 in an IB/PYP program for 15 + years with a few years of teaching and coaching technology. Helping start a Dual Immersion School has been the highlight of her career and she was excited to see the first cohort graduate in 2018. She has taught overseas on two occasions-- once in Honduras and once in Singapore. Currently she teaches high school Spanish and serves as a best-practice coach in her building.
